Adult Treatment Programs

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides acute psychiatric services in a safe and nurturing environment to adults ages 18 and older who are in crisis. With confidentiality and sensitivity, our adult inpatient programs allow patients to begin treatment in an intensive and secure environment where they are cared for 24 hours a day by our team of compassionate and highly trained professionals.

The clinical approach in our adult treatment programming is to quickly intervene through medication management and solution-focused therapy. Treatment includes group, individual and family therapy, classes in coping skills, and a wide variety of therapeutic activities, such as expressive therapy, art and music therapy, recreational therapy, and yoga therapy. Our clinical staff utilizes a range of evidence based treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE).

The adult inpatient programs provide protection from harm to self or others, medication support, and therapy with the goal of stabilizing acute symptoms as quickly as possible so our patients can continue treatment in a less restrictive outpatient environment.

Specialty Programming

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital also offers specialty programming to address the specific needs of certain patient populations.

Veterans Program

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital is honored to serve our Veteran population. With the success of our Military Resiliency Program, which primarily serves active duty members, our clinical experts have adapted comprehensive programming with treatment tailored to the specific needs of our Veteran heroes. Our Veterans Program may be better suited for patients with unique needs, or for those who do not wish to adhere to the rigorous and demanding schedule of the Military Resiliency Program. Veterans are evaluated upon admission to the hospital so our psychiatrists and clinical team can determine the most appropriate program based on their individual needs. While each treatment plan is tailored to the unique behavioral health needs of the Veteran, our program includes: chemical dependency treatment, evidence based therapy for trauma, depression and anxiety, Veterans specific groups, group and family sessions, and discharge planning. Staff from the VA assist in the discharge planning process, as well as provide resources and education to our Veteran patients throughout their hospitalization to ensure they receive the support necessary for their success and recovery.

Chemical Dependency Program

We offer a full range of care for the treatment of alcohol and/or drug dependency. This ensures that the patients are placed in the most appropriate level of care according to the severity of the illness. Our comprehensive program provides structured, effective treatment for individuals struggling with substance-related and addictive disorders, mental illness, or dual-diagnosis. While each treatment plan is tailored to the specific needs of the individual, the levels of care in our chemical dependency program for adults include: medical detoxification,  rehabilitation, 12-Step Recovery based programming, relapse risk and prevention education, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, engaging support network, group and family therapy, and discharge planning.

NEVER LOSE HOPE

It’s important to remember that many people experience mental illness. In fact, mental illness is the most prevalent disease in America; more prevalent than cancer, heart, and lung disease combined.

  • One in four Americans will suffer from a mental illness or substance abuse disorder at some time in their lives
  • One half of all chronic mental illness begins by age 14; three quarters of all chronic mental illness begins by age 24
  • Approximately 16 million adults in America live with major depression
  • Approximately 2.4 million adults in America live with schizophrenia
  • Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. and an overwhelming majority of suicide victims are found to have a diagnosable mental disorder
  • Approximately 60% of adults with mental illness received no mental health services in the previous year

It’s comforting to know that many people have problems similar to yours. And it’s also comforting to know that there is a place you can come for support, guidance, and professional treatment. You are not alone–Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital is here to help.
