Adult Outpatient Services

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD or another issue, mental health challenges can take a toll on your daily life. Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital offers structured outpatient treatments for adults to help you feel better and move forward.

A group of adults sit in a circle in a group therapy setting.

Our mental health treatment for adults can help those stepping down from an inpatient level of care. We offer partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP). Both programs provide the benefit of intensive therapies during the day while allowing you to return home each night, helping you stay connected with loved ones.

Adult Outpatient Services: Why Choose Us?

We tailor our PHP and IOP services to your needs, whether you’re dealing with mental health issues or a substance use disorder. We aim to help you step down to a lower level of care, giving you the tools to confidently deal with stressors and enjoy your life.

Highlights of both outpatient programs (PHP and IOP) include:

  • Small groups: We limit our group therapy sessions to no more than 12 people so you get the care and attention you need.
  • Tailored therapy sessions: We offer two tracks based on your referral: One for people with a mental health diagnosis and one for those with a dual diagnosis (mental health and substance use disorder). Morning sessions focus on mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma. Afternoon sessions concentrate on substance use disorders.
  • Virtual access: If you can’t attend in person, you can participate virtually.

Mental Health Treatment for Adults: Services We Provide

At Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital, we can provide intervention, recommend the appropriate level of care, conduct no-cost assessments and make referrals when necessary.

Our adult outpatient services include:

  • PHP: This program involves intensive, day-long therapy sessions. The group meets five days a week for a six-hour session. We provide a $10 meal stipend for your lunch break.
  • IOP: This group meets three to five days a week for a three-hour session, either in the morning or afternoon. You choose which session to attend.

Both our PHP and IOP programs use several types of therapy:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): Also known as talk therapy or psychotherapy, CBT helps you become aware of your thoughts and feelings so you can respond to challenging situations better.
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): A type of talk therapy, DBT helps you accept the reality of your life and learn to change unhelpful behaviors. It also helps you regulate your emotions.
  • Process group therapy: These group therapy sessions take place in a respectful, confidential environment, which helps you process your issues and gain perspective.
